About Us
Dr. Navarra currently offers the MetTrimMD program to help men, women, and families—lose weight and reduce weight related health problems such as: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, elevated sugar (A1C, Insulin) levels, joint pain and more.
He has practiced medicine for over 22 years and currently see patients at his office in Newburyport Massachusetts.
Dr. Navarra is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and a Member of the Obesity Medicine Association. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has added qualifications in Geriatric Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale University. He completed his Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard University.

What happens after I lose the weight?
You’re not alone on this journey. After you reach your goal weight on the MetTrimMD plan, we will maintain open communication—and an open door policy—as you enter the weight maintenance phase. We will teach you how to keep the weight off. It’s easier than you may think. The beauty of MetTrimMD is that we’re local; you can visit us if you start to struggle, and together we can quickly get you back on track. Your relationship with your MetTrimMD physician and medical team puts you in control of your weight from start to finish.
Who are MetTrimMD physicians?
MetTrimMD physicians are medical doctors (MDs/DOs) in your community who are dedicated to improving patients’ health through weight loss. They follow our safe, effective protocol and follow the highest standard of medical care and attention. These doctors are passionate about helping you lose the weight, providing expert level support whenever you need it, and teaching you how to keep the weight off long-term.
Why is MetTrimMD only available through a doctor’s office?
MetTrimMD provides a proprietary nonsurgical “medical treatment” that must be supervised by a physician or qualified medical professional. In addition, there are medical conditions that contribute to weight struggles. Only a physician and trained medical experts are qualified to effectively treat those medical conditions.
What is behavioral modification (and do I need to do it)?
Behavior modification at its core is the process by which we learn what behaviors contribute to our struggle with weight and how we can change those behaviors. We pride ourselves in providing you with realistic and clear solutions to shift you away from behaviors that prevent you from maintaining a healthy weight. Those behaviors may include: your relationship with food, lifestyle habits, environmental habits, and emotional barriers. In essence, behavioral counseling is the learning process by which we teach you to maintain a healthy weight.
Does the MetTrimMD program include weight loss surgery?
No. Our proprietary program is a nonsurgical approach to weight loss and weight maintenance. However, we work with many bariatric surgery patients before and/or after bariatric surgery.
What if I already have a primary care physician? Can I start MetTrimMD?
Yes, you can. Moreover, your MetTrimMD physician will be happy to work with your primary care physician.
